Legacy:
Named after Julian "Pappy" Van Winkle, Sr., this bourbon carries a storied legacy. Pappy began his whiskey journey in the 1890s and eventually led the Stitzel-Weller Distillery. After the brand was sold in the '70s, his grandson, Julian III, revived the Van Winkle name with uncompromising quality. In 2002, Buffalo Trace took over production using the original family recipe, ensuring the Van Winkle tradition lives on.
