A very dark black-cherry Color with faint brick-red glints. It has an intense, complex nose with hints of black pepper, balsamic aromas and slight toastiness, reminding you of fine oak. On the palate, the ageing nuances are in perfect harmony with the fruit, with good tannin concentration, round and supple, with a long, silky smooth finish.

To make their Gran Reservas, Marques de Riscal use grapes from old vines over 80 years' old, either from own estate vineyards. The wine destined for making the Gran Reserva is set aside after the final coupages and passes into French oak barrels where it will spend between two and a half and three years, plus another three years rounding off in the bottle before release for sale.
