Robert Mondavi was a pioneer and innovator in the California wine industry. In 1979, he acquired a local cooperative of grape growers, naming the winery after a nearby town, and the Woodbridge Winery was born. He cultivated relationships with the local growers, employed unique growing techniques, and used state-of-the-art technology for winemaking.
