Louisiana's Gentle Giant
Andygator is Abita's outlier. It is a helles doppelbock, a strong pale lager fermented to a high gravity and finished dry, which strips out the heavy sweetness most doppelbocks carry. The result is deceptively clean for its strength.
Abita has brewed in Abita Springs, Louisiana since 1986, using artesian water drawn from the aquifer beneath the town. Andygator takes its name from the brewery's alligator mascot and has developed a genuine cult following in the Gulf South.
Tasting Notes

The Story
Abita Brewing Company opened in 1986 about 30 miles north of New Orleans and became one of the first successful craft breweries in the American South. Every beer is made with artesian spring water from the Abita Springs aquifer. Andygator is one of its longest running year round releases.
