This batch lands at 126.6 proof (63.30% ABV) after exactly 7 years, 1 month and 8 days in oak. Booker's prints the age to the day, which no other major bourbon does.

Charlie Is a Real Person, and He Makes the Boxes

Charlie's Batch honors Charlie Hutchens, the craftsman who handcrafts the wooden boxes that every bottle of Booker's ships in. He started his career working at the Booker Noe Distillery, then opened his own cabinet shop and built the very first Booker's boxes in his garage.

That box is a large part of why Booker's became a recognizable brand on a shelf, which makes Charlie one of the few people outside the distilling floor that Beam has ever named a batch after. Fred Noe, the seventh generation Master Distiller, selected the barrels.

Where It Came From

2023-01 was blended from barrels aged in five different warehouse locations. That is the point of chasing Booker's batches: change the warehouses and the floors and you change the whiskey, and no batch is ever made twice. Original release was April 2023 at $89.99. It has been out of distribution since.

Tasting Notes

• Nose: Balanced oak with toasted nuts and vanilla, roasted peanut behind it, and no excess wood.
• Palate: Deep and complex. Dark caramel and cinnamon over vanilla and charred oak.
• Finish: Long and warming, closing on oak tannin and sweet spice.
