DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
Campo Azul Gran Reserva Extra Anejo: Highland Agave, Years in Oak
Campo Azul Selecto Gran Reserva is a 100% agave extra anejo from the highlands of Jalisco, aged for more than three years in white oak barrels. Long barrel time builds deep vanilla and oak while the cooked agave still shows through.
On the palate it is rich and woody with a peppery bite and a firm, tannic grip that rewards slow sipping. This gift set pairs the 750ml bottle with two glasses, so it is ready to share straight out of the box.
Campo Azul traces its roots to Don Ricardo Lopez, born in 1940 in Jesus Maria in the Jalisco highlands, who inherited his father's knowledge of growing agave. The tequila is made by Productos Finos de Agave under NOM 1416.
The Selecto line is aimed at aficionados with a demanding palate, and the Gran Reserva is its top tier. With two glasses in the box, it is one of the easiest extra anejo gifts to give.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Toasted oak, vanilla, cooked agave and light black pepper
- Palate: Rich vanilla, seasoned oak, cooked agave, black pepper and a firm tannic grip
- Finish: Dry and lingering with oak, vanilla and gentle spice
How to Enjoy
- Neat: Pour into one of the included glasses and sip slowly at room temperature, like a fine brandy.
- With a splash of water: A few drops soften the tannin and lift the vanilla.
- Extra Anejo Old Fashioned: Stir 2 oz Campo Azul Gran Reserva, 0.25 oz agave syrup and 2 dashes orange bitters with ice, strain over a large cube and express an orange peel.
- Gift it: Boxed with two glasses, it is a ready made holiday or celebration gift for any tequila sipper.
