The Nelthropp family has been making rum on St. Croix since 1760, and Cruzan Black Strap carries on the old Navy rum tradition of full flavor and near black color. It takes Cruzan's signature aged dark rum and blends in black strap style molasses flavoring, a nod to the era before modern refining lightened most commercial rum.

This is not a subtle bottle. It is dense, sweet, and molasses forward in a way that makes it a favorite floater on tiki cocktails and a genuinely useful pantry item for baking, marinades, and homemade vanilla extract, the same way you would use actual blackstrap molasses.
