DESCRIPTION
Dame Mas Premium Reposado: Cognac Barrels, and a Bottle You Keep
Dame Mas Premium Reposado is 100% Blue Weber agave tequila produced by Agave Conquista, NOM 1577, in Tequila, Jalisco. Bottled at 40% ABV in a full litre, not a 750.
French Cognac Barrels, Not Bourbon Barrels
Most reposado rests in ex-bourbon or ex-whiskey wood. This spends eleven months in French oak barrels that previously held fine cognac. Cognac casks leave dried fruit and a rounder sweetness where bourbon wood leaves vanilla and char, and eleven months is at the long end of the reposado range, which runs two months to a year.
It is also twice distilled and twice filtered, which is where the softness comes from.
The Bottle Is Part of the Purchase
Every bottle is hand painted ceramic in a Day of the Dead pattern, individually numbered, and approved by Rosario Carrillo. It is a full litre of tequila in a piece people keep on the shelf after it is empty, which is exactly why this sells as a gift rather than as an everyday pour.
The maker's own line on the back, and it is on the bottle: made with passion, love and 100% agave.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Cooked agave with light oak and soft vanilla.
- Palate: Smooth. Agave layered with gentle oak and a dried fruit sweetness from the cognac wood.
- Finish: Clean, balanced and softly warming.
How to Enjoy
- Neat: eleven months of cognac cask is worth tasting without anything in the way.
- Over one large cube: opens the dried fruit.
- As a gift: a hand painted litre needs no wrapping and no explanation.
- Side by side: pour it against a bourbon barrel reposado. Same category, completely different wood, and the difference is obvious.
