DESCRIPTION

VinePair 95 points and a 2022 Top 50 pick. Verified additive free highland agave from NOM 1146, sourced direct from the distributor.

Don Fulano Blanco: The Purest Read on Fonseca Highland Agave

Don Fulano Blanco comes from the Fonseca family, agave growers in the Jalisco highlands for five generations, and is made at Tequileña (NOM 1146) under master distillers Enrique Fonseca and Sergio Mendoza. The agave is estate grown and left to mature for around a decade before harvest, then fermented naturally with a proprietary yeast, distilled in copper, cut with deep well water and bottled non chill filtered at 80 proof.

No barrel, no shortcuts. The blanco rests in stainless steel so nothing stands between you and the red clay highland agave, and it is verified additive free by Tequila Matchmaker: no glycerin, no sweetener, no oak extract. VinePair scored it 95 points and named it to its 2022 Top 50 Spirits. It is the bottle that shows why the reposado and anejo taste the way they do.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Fresh cooked highland agave, damp red earth and grilled pepper over a light herbal lift.
  • Palate: Bright and elegant. Delicate fruit balanced by light herbaceousness and a rich, butterscotch like oiliness.
  • Finish: Clean and lingering, closing on white pepper and mineral agave.

How to Enjoy

  • Neat in a copita: the best way to taste additive free highland agave.
  • As an aperitif: it wakes up the palate before dinner.
  • A real margarita: fresh lime, a touch of agave syrup, and let the tequila lead.
  • Gift it: paired with the Don Fulano Reposado and Anejo, it makes a full flight for the agave fan on your list.
