Eagle Rare is distilled and bottled by the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, aged a full ten years and bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV). Buffalo Trace makes the point on the back label better than we could: no other distilled spirit adheres to standards as strict as those established for Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

Why a barrel pick of an allocated bottle is worth the trouble. The standard Eagle Rare 10 marries many barrels to land on a consistent house profile, and it is excellent at that. A single barrel skips the averaging. Barrel #020 tastes like the specific spot in the rickhouse it spent a decade in.
