Most Oktoberfest beer is lager. Erdinger goes the other direction with a top fermented Bavarian wheat beer brewed stronger and fuller for festival season, giving you banana and clove character with more body behind it.
Erdinger is the largest wheat beer brewery in the world, based in Erding just northeast of Munich. On draft the wheat creaminess is even more pronounced, and it makes a genuine change of pace next to a tap of golden lager.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Ripe banana, clove, and soft wheat with a light honey note
- Palate: Full and creamy from the wheat, gently spicy, finely carbonated
- Finish: Smooth and slightly sweet with yeast spice trailing off
How to Enjoy
- Store cold and let the keg settle several hours after transport before tapping
- Pour at 46 to 50 degrees, colder mutes the yeast character

The Story
Erdinger Weissbrau was founded in 1886 in Erding, Bavaria, and remains privately owned. It became the largest wheat beer brewery on earth without abandoning traditional methods. Its festival wheat beer is released seasonally alongside Oktoberfest. Brewed to the Reinheitsgebot purity law of 1516.
