The Benchmark Bavarian Wheat Beer
Erdinger Weissbier is the beer most of the world pictures when it thinks of German wheat beer. Cloudy gold, thick white head, and that unmistakable banana and clove character that comes from the yeast rather than any additive.
Erdinger still bottle conditions with a second fermentation, the same method used for champagne, which is where the fine and persistent carbonation comes from. Unlike the Oktoberfest Weizen, this one is available year round, so it works as a permanent tap rather than a seasonal one.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Banana, clove, and fresh wheat with a hint of vanilla
- Palate: Creamy and soft, medium bodied, lightly spicy, very low bitterness

The Story
Founded in 1886 in Erding, Bavaria, Erdinger Weissbrau remains privately owned and has grown into the largest wheat beer brewery in the world. It has kept traditional bottle conditioning throughout, which is unusual at its scale. Brewed to the Reinheitsgebot purity law of 1516.
