DESCRIPTION

Yuzu bright gin from Hokkaido, gift boxed with an engraved glass.

Etsu Japanese Gin: Yuzu, Green Tea and Sansho From Hokkaido

Etsu is a handcrafted gin from the Asahikawa distillery on Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island. Botanicals including yuzu, bitter orange peel, juniper, coriander, angelica and licorice macerate for 22 hours in a sugar cane spirit before distillation in copper pot stills.

Yuzu leads with a floral, citrus nose, followed by a fresh, balanced palate with hints of green tea and juniper and a peppery sansho close. It is cut to 43% with local water and is not chill filtered, giving it a silky texture.

Launched in 2018, Etsu takes its name from a Japanese word meaning joy or pleasure. Many of its botanicals are native to Japan, giving it a citrus forward style distinct from London dry gins.

This gift pack pairs the 700ml bottle with an engraved glass in a decorative box, an elegant present for gin and tonic fans and anyone who loves Japanese spirits.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Floral yuzu, bright citrus, fresh herbs and soft juniper
  • Palate: Fresh yuzu, green tea, juniper, light pepper and a touch of licorice
  • Finish: Rounded and silky with sansho pepper and lingering yuzu

How to Enjoy

  • Neat: Chill well and sip from the included glass to taste the yuzu and green tea.
  • On the rocks: Pour over a large cube with a twist of lemon.
  • Etsu Gin and Tonic: Build 2 oz Etsu Gin over ice in a highball, top with 4 oz Mediterranean tonic and garnish with a lemon peel.
  • Gift it: Boxed with an engraved glass, it is a stylish gift for gin lovers and Japanese spirits fans.
