In the mid-1980s, at just 20 years old, Elisabetta Geppetti inherited Fattoria Le Pupille from her father-in-law, who had no interest in winemaking. Today, over three decades later, she is credited with elevating the Morellino di Scansano region to the world stage. Elisabetta is also renowned for creating a benchmark Super Tuscan, her family’s Saffredi—a wine that has consistently received top scores and accolades.
Fattoria Le Pupille, located about 300 meters above sea level, benefits from significant diurnal temperature variation due to its inland position with views of the coast. The estate spans over 400 hectares, with 75 hectares dedicated to vineyards. While the winery is not officially certified, it practices organic farming. Elisabetta continues to cultivate the winery’s original 25 "historic" hectares, where the renowned Saffredi is grown.
Recently, Elisabetta’s daughter Clara joined the team, representing the second generation of women to manage one of Italy’s most esteemed wineries. Clara, alongside Luca, played a pivotal role in the creation of the winery’s new 100% Syrah, aged in amphora and named Le Pupille.
