Garrison Brothers Single Barrel 94: One Texas Barrel, Bottled On Its Own Terms
Garrison Brothers was the first legal whiskey distillery in the history of Texas, and it still does things the hard way in Hye, out in the Hill Country. Sweet Texas red winter wheat, local water, and small new American oak barrels that sit through blistering hundred degree summers. That heat pushes whiskey in and out of the wood far faster than Kentucky ever does, which is why these bourbons taste older and richer than their age.
This is the Single Barrel expression at 94 proof. No blending, no vatting, no smoothing out the edges with a hundred other barrels. One cask is selected, tasted, and bottled on its own, so what you get is the honest personality of that specific barrel: darker fruit in some, more cocoa and cinnamon in others. Bottle counts are tiny by definition, and each release is its own one time run.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Toasted oak, brown sugar, ripe fig and a lift of orange peel over warm baking spice.
- Palate: Thick and syrupy for the proof. Caramel, dark cherry, milk chocolate and Texas heat driven vanilla, with a wheated softness underneath.
- Finish: Long and dry, sliding from cocoa and cinnamon into gentle char and leather.
How to Enjoy
