A Biodynamic Red Blend With Real Pedigree
Hedges has farmed biodynamically on Red Mountain since 2008 and earned Demeter certification in 2011, with all 120 estate acres certified as of 2021. CMS stands for Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah: a Washington take on a Bordeaux idea, with Syrah for lift.
This is farming as a belief system rather than a marketing line. Note that Hedges does add SO2 during the winemaking, so this is a clean farmed, lower intervention wine rather than a no sulfite wine. We would rather tell you that up front.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Black cherry, plum, cracked pepper, wet stone.
- Palate: Full bodied and layered, dark fruit with a graphite mineral streak and firm tannin.
- Finish: Long, dry, mineral driven.
How to Enjoy
- Grilled lamb or a hearty beef stew.
