DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
The Biggest Red Wine Finish In The Collection
Petite Sirah is one of the darkest, most tannic red wines in California, and its barrels leave a mark. High West rests its straight whiskey in them until the spirit picks up blackberry, plum skin and a firm grip of tannin, then bottles it at 100 proof.
This is the Cask Collection release for people who like structure. It is dry rather than sweet, and it holds up to bold food better than almost any other whiskey on the shelf.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Blackberry, plum, cocoa powder and cedar.
- Palate: Dark fruit and caramel with rye spice, espresso and grippy tannin.
- Finish: Long, dry and tannic with cocoa and pepper.
How to Enjoy
- Neat with a steak dinner.
- One large cube to soften the tannin slightly.
- In a Boulevardier where the dark fruit meets Campari.
- Gift idea: for the Napa red drinker moving into whiskey.
