Lagavulin's legendary peat smoke, mellowed by Pedro Ximenez sherry.
Lagavulin has been making whisky on the southern coast of Islay since 1816 and is widely considered one of the great peated single malts in existence. The Distillers Edition takes fully matured Lagavulin and finishes it in Pedro Ximenez-seasoned casks, the richest, darkest sherry casks available, adding a layer of raisin-sweet fruitiness that weaves through the signature peat smoke without taming it.
The result is full-bodied and complex: the peat is still intense and unmistakably Islay, but the PX finish brings dried fruit, espresso, and a warming sweetness that makes this one of the most satisfying expressions in the lineup.
