Lheraud Cuvee 10 Cognac

Since 1680, generations of the Lh\xe9raud family have lived in the same 10th-century house in the small village of Lasdoux in the heart of the Petite Champagne region. The family\u2019s first cognac was made in 1802 \u2014 a few bottles of this rare and precious cognac are still kept in the Lh\xe9rauds\u2019 private cellar they call \u201cParadis.\u201d Since that first bottling so many years ago, the Lh\xe9raud family has passed down the traditions and knowledge that it takes to produce their exceptional cognacs and armagnacs.When Andr\xe9e and Guy Lh\xe9raud inherited the domaine in the 1960s, they experienced some difficult times, and yet they never gave up. \u201cThere was a force in us. We had the land and so we knew\u2026\u201d Andr\xe9e lets the sentence complete itself. At that time, she was already handwriting the labels and applying them using a special flour-and-water glue.In 1970, Guy decided to stop selling the family\u2019s cognac to outside producers, and started marketing it under Cognac Lh\xe9raud. Today, all Lh\xe9raud cognacs and armagnacs are made from grapes from their own vineyards, with all of the winemaking, distillation, aging, bottling and labels done by the Lh\xe9raud family.Listening to Guy Lh\xe9raud means being captivated by the warmth that exists in his family; the subject is never \u201cI\u201d but \u201cwe.\u201d Work and success are shared in equal measures. \u201cWe make a good trio. We can\u2019t do anything without each other. Without my wife and her packaging, my son and his blends, the company would not be where it is today,\u201d says the patriarch. \u201cBut,\u201d he adds with a coy smile, \u201cWhere would Laurent\u2019s fine cognacs and my wife\u2019s wonderful packaging be if the salesman didn\u2019t do a good job?\u201dEqually dedicated to the family\u2019s heritage, Laurent Lh\xe9raud studied oenology, working with his parents from an early age. \u201cWe worked hard, but it wasn\u2019t a sacrifice. I never considered doing anything else.\u201d He now manages the domaine (Domaine de Lasdoux), from vineyard to distillation, following the traditions that have been handed down in the family from generation to generation.
