Matt Taylor is a winemaker with a clear philosophy and he is not afraid to state it. The labels of his wines are hand-painted by Taylor and his family, and they reflect what is in the bottle. He describes his approach as deliberately sacrificing primary red fruit aromatics for something more interesting: a spice spectrum that runs deeper, with blue fruits from the length of the Sonoma Coast growing season and a green herbal vein from the vineyard itself.
This 2016 from the Komorebi Vineyard is exactly that: a Pinot Noir for the drinker who is ready to move beyond simple cherry-forward California Pinot and into something more complex, food-friendly, and genuinely expressive of its place.
