Paulaner has brewed its Oktoberfest Bier since 1818, the year it earned the right to serve on the Wiesn meadow. This is the golden lager poured inside the Paulaner Festzelt, and on draft it is closer still to the festival experience. A 50 litre keg pours about 140 half liters.
Where the amber Marzen leans malty, the Oktoberfest Bier is brighter and cleaner, built so a full liter never wears you out. Pilsner and Munich malts carry the body, Herkules and Hallertauer Tradition hops keep the finish crisp.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Fresh bread crust, honey, and a soft floral hop lift
- Palate: Golden malt sweetness against clean noble hop bitterness, medium bodied
- Finish: Crisp and dry, made for the next pour
How to Enjoy
- Store cold and let the keg settle several hours after transport before tapping
- Pour at 45 to 48 degrees, around 12 psi on a standard European coupler
- Confirm you have the correct coupler type before pickup, German kegs differ from domestic
- Gift it: a keg turns a backyard into a Festzelt faster than anything else
The Story
Oktoberfest began in 1810 as a royal wedding celebration, and the first beer huts appeared eight years later. Paulaner has poured on the Wiesn ever since and serves three of the festival's biggest tents. Only six Munich breweries may legally brew Oktoberfest beer. Brewed under the Reinheitsgebot purity law of 1516.
