Smooth Ambler is a small distillery in Maxwelton, West Virginia, built on a belief that good whiskey doesn't need shortcuts. The Old Scout Rye Single Barrel is their cask strength release, bottled from a single barrel without dilution or chill filtration, so every bottle captures exactly what came out of that one cask after four years.
At 57.4% ABV it is a serious, full-flavored rye with spicy sweetness leading, cinnamon and caramel underneath, and the kind of finish that keeps going. Add a few drops of water to open it up, or drink it straight if you want the full barrel experience.
