Springbank 12 Cask Strength: Campbeltown at Full Power
Springbank 12 Year Old Cask Strength takes the distillery's signature oily, coastal spirit and bottles it straight from the cask with no reduction. The result is bold and concentrated, layering citrus, dried fruit and cocoa over Springbank's trademark salinity and soft smoke.
Each annual batch is bottled at its natural strength, without chill filtration or added color, so the proof shifts slightly from release to release. The 2026 release is matured in ex-bourbon casks, giving a brighter, fruit forward profile.
Springbank has been run by the Mitchell family since the 1830s and remains one of the very few Scottish distilleries to malt, distill, mature and bottle everything on site. Its output is small by design, which keeps every release in short supply.
The 12 Cask Strength is one of the most sought after annual releases in Scotch. Enthusiasts track batch numbers and buy on sight, which makes it a standout gift for any serious collector.
Tasting Notes
