Uncle Nearest 1856 Premium Aged Whiskey is named for Nearest Green, a formerly enslaved man who was the first known African American master distiller. Historical records show Green taught Jack Daniel how to make whiskey using the Lincoln County charcoal mellowing process in Lynchburg, Tennessee. His descendants founded the brand to reclaim his legacy and tell his story properly.
The 1856 is a multi-year blend built around that Tennessee tradition: spicy caramel upfront, maple and dried fruit in the middle, and a long, sweet finish with notes of vanilla and oatmeal raisin that genuinely impresses.
