Very Olde St. Nick Summer Rye is a limited, cask strength straight rye whiskey released once a year by Preservation Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky. It is bottled uncut and non chill filtered, so every drop carries the full weight of the barrel.
The whiskey blends Tennessee rye with pot distilled Kentucky rye, aged roughly seven to nine years in new American oak and married in micro batches of one to three barrels. Expect bold rye spice wrapped in deep caramel and oak, with enough proof to reward a splash of water.
Very Olde St. Nick is one of the most storied labels in American whiskey, a name collectors have chased for decades. Today it is bottled by Preservation Distillery in Bardstown, where the team hand selects barrels from aging stocks for each seasonal release.
The Summer Rye appears only once a year in small quantities and disappears quickly, which makes it a prized shelf piece for rye lovers and an easy win for the whiskey collector who seems to have everything.
Tasting Notes
