C.Y.P.B. stands for Craft Your Perfect Bourbon, and the name is literal. Buffalo Trace put the recipe to a public vote, inviting bourbon drinkers to specify the mash bill, the warehouse, the floor it aged on, the age, and the proof. The winning combination came back wheated — the W.L. Weller mash bill — and Buffalo Trace built it exactly to spec.
The result is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 95 proof, sitting between the everyday Special Reserve and the barrel-strength expressions in the Weller range. It shares its wheat-forward DNA with Pappy Van Winkle, but the character here is the one the audience asked for: soft, rounded, and easy to sit with.
Tasting Notes
