DESCRIPTION

125 proof American single malt from Portland. Brewed like an ale, aged in new charred oak.

Westward Cask Strength: American Single Malt at 125 Proof

Westward Cask Strength is a bold expression of American single malt, made from 100% malted barley and bottled at 125 proof. The distillery brews its own unhopped ale with local barley and ale yeast, then distills it, building a rich, fruity base spirit.

Aged in new charred American oak barrels, the whisky combines the malt depth of Scotch with the vanilla and toasted oak of bourbon. Expect honey, stone fruit, tropical notes and baking spice, with real intensity at full strength.

Westward Whiskey is made in Portland, Oregon, by a distillery devoted entirely to single malt. Its brewer's approach to fermentation and its use of Pacific Northwest barley helped put American single malt on the map.

With American single malt now recognized as its own category, Westward is a leading name for drinkers exploring beyond bourbon and Scotch. The Cask Strength bottling is the one enthusiasts reach for, and it makes a distinctive gift.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: honey, peach, cherry, toasted biscuit and roasted oak
  • Palate: honey, green grape, papaya, cinnamon and toasted oak
  • Finish: long and warming with peach, guava, passionfruit and lingering oak

How to Enjoy

  • Neat: Take small sips and let the 125 proof heat give way to honey and fruit.
  • With water: A splash of water unlocks tropical fruit and softens the oak.
  • Cocktail: Westward Old Fashioned. Stir 2 oz Westward Cask Strength, 0.25 oz honey syrup and 2 dashes Angostura bitters with ice, strain over a large cube and garnish with an orange peel.
  • Gift it: A conversation starter for the whiskey fan curious about American single malt.
